As with anything in life, no one size fits all, at Trampa we have taken this into consideration in the development of our products, As a result we have developed 3 main types of electric board that are differentiated by their drive system.
We sell 2 belt drive models, the Open Belt and the Pro Belt Drives, as well as the Spur Gear Drive model. They each have advantages and compromises over each other. To find out which board is best for you and your environment take a look at the summaries of each below and weigh up with the comparison table.
Our Youtube Channel is a good place to learn about the range as well as seeing some of the wicked stuff you could get up to! Feel free to email us or use the live chat link and one of our team will be happy to advise you.
Ease of maintenance can not be overstated when it comes to the Open Belt Drives, which combined with its lightweight design and versatility makes for an awesome all round board… and that’s all before mentioning it having the highest top speed!
The Open Belt Drive system combines robustness with customisation, allowing for easier maintenance and adaptability to various terrains. Trampa’s Open Design (it’s in the name) enhances accessibility for quick adjustments and replacements, by the drive system being exposed, minimising downtime.
Our 15 and 20mm Transmission Belts are almost double the width of most other E-Skate Boards out there. This increases width is vital, as it guarantees dependable breaking, minimises stretch, removes slippage, and delivers power smoothly all the time.
The main drawback with Open Belt Drive comes as a consequence of the belt being exposed, as it’s lifespan is reduced when exposed to the Elements. However a broken belt can be swiftly swapped out for a new one so make sure that you’re taking a couple spares along with an inner tube on your rides with you.
Trampa Pro Belt Drive Mountainboards are a nice medium in our Mountainboard Range, combining the Belt Drive’s speed with the Spur Gear’s rigidity!
Encased in a CNC’d Aluminium Motor Tub the Belt Drive System is lower maintenance compared to it’s Open Belt counterpart, although this does come with the caveat of more laboursome maintenance, when the time does come.
This housing for the drive adds durability, creating a robust drive system. Featuring ‘Ejection Slots’ in case the belt does snap, such as not to lock up your wheels or create a jam within your casing, for this reason these slots are covered with Carbon Tape designed to allow a belt to brake free!
Like the Open Belt, the Pro Belt favours eye-watering top speeds over acceleration! Making it perfect for those long distance more comfortable rides.
Despite being enclosed we still recommend that you take a spare belt and at least inner tube (with appropriate tools) on your ride, so you don’t get stuck on the trails!
The Trampa Spur Gear Drive Mountainboards are a the roughest and most robust in our Electric Mountainboard Range – Favouring torque & acceleration over out and out top speed.
Capable of tackling the toughest of terrains, due to an entirely enclosed CNC’d Tub, providing protection from knocks bumps and the elements. The Gears are two cylindrically shaped tooth components, capable of providing insane torque to get you pretty much through anything, from muddy hills to snow.
This is for the extreme rides, with speeds well over 50km/h, jumps and crazy torque, compared to the Pro Belt, which is designed for longer more comfortable rides. Although, with the gear ratio’s available, you can configure these for pretty much anything!
Designed for tighter turning (carving) than anything else on the market, our Carveboards are a completely new riding experience!
Form follows function with the Battery Box mounting on the back: Caveboard’s don’t loose any of their ‘pop’ or ‘flex’ to an under-board battery tray, while retaining space for 100% free foot placement.
The unique design combined with the same high quality equipment as an Electric Mountainboard, makes these Carveboards an Urban Beast!
Immensely customisable with choices between Stickies, Gummies and Pneumatic Tyres, each providing an entirely different road feel!
The most customisable high quality Electric Longboard on the market!
With choices between Stickies, Gummies & Phneumatic tyres, three baseplate mounting options, single or twin motors and the typical top Trampa Quality options this longboard is in a league of it’s own!
Ergonomically designed with of camber around the upper perimeter to give your foot a nice cradle, while VESC’s provide your wheels with smooth power controlled from the VESC Wand, nothing else comes close.
A battery tray is fitted under-board, for a sleek profile and optimal weight dispersion.

Life Span | Lowest life span for Belt as its exposed | Belt parts have lower life expectancy than gear parts | Gear parts have a higher life expectancy than belt drives |
Maintenance | Easiest to maintain, however as exposed its more prone to a damaged belt | Requires regular inspection and maintenance, but the maintenance cost is cheaper | Requires less maintenance but maintenance costs can be higher |
Lubrication | Requires no lubrication | Requires no lubrication | Requires semi-regular lubrication |
Servicing | Servicing is easiest but required more often | Servicing is easier but required more often | Servicing is fiddly but required less often |
Riding Conditions | Most suited to the warmer and dryer months | Able to take a few more knocks and splashes compared to the Open Belt | Built to withstand the toughest conditions, rugged and waterproof |
Noise | Quietest | Inbetween | Noisier in operation |
Globally renowned high quality motor controller
You will likely have come across VESC™ by now, it is very special in the field of Electronic Speed Controllers so we are very proud that our boards all come as standard with a VESC™ and VESC™ BMS.
VESC6 Mk6 HP – Quite simply a higher powered version of the VESC6 Mk6, with the same trusted reliability and ease of control. Why High Power? Because the mosfets in the HP allow more amps to run through.
VESC6 Mk6 – An incredibly reliable and high performing compact speed controller, used by over 2000 companies in many other applications across the world
VESC 6/75 – If you are using a 16s Battery Pack to power your mountainboard this controller will automatically be selected to handle the higher voltage.
We make battery packs for both Li-Po & Li-Ion cells.
The (S) stands for Series - adding cells in series increases voltage, The (P) stands for Parallel - adding cells in parallel increases capacity.
A higher voltage will take you faster and higher capacity will take you further. See the table below for further comparison:.

Li-Po: These cells are more expensive, however you may consider them worth it because they have less components and therefore provide easy plug and play capability as well as making it possible to do a quick battery swap. Li-Po cells also have a higher discharge performance than the Li-ion packs.
Li-ion: Individual cells means that you have a serviceable battery pack, swapping out only the individual cells should they be damaged. These cell packs require some electrical knowledge.
We suggest that if you have limited electrical knowledge that you choose Li-Po batteries for their ease.
